Not too long ago I posted a look on my Instagram of a black smokey eye. Quite a lot of people asked me to do a pictorial on this look so here we are.
I didn’t want to recreate the exact makeup so for this look I used a different pop of color (pink/purple instead of blue).
Products I used for this smokey eye makeup:
- Eyeshadow base (e.g. concealer)
- Karity Smokey palette (stargasm, naturale, scandal, pda, cougar)
- Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil in Black Fever
- Essence I Love Extreme Volume Mascara Waterproof
- Brushes: Sigma E25, e.l.f. Blending Brush, Sigma E40, Sigma E21, Sigma E56
Step By Step Makeup Pictorial:

STEP 1:
First of all I prime my eylids (with some concealer). Then I apply a black eyeshadow (‘cougar’) on my mobile eyelid with a dense blending brush (Sigma E25).
STEP 2:
After that I apply a light pink eyeshadow (‘scandal’) as my transition shade in my crease (and a little bit above the crease) with another blending brush (e.l.f. Blending Brush).
STEP 3:
With the same brush I apply a deeper purple shade (‘pda’) between the black and the pink eyeshadow to make it blend them together.

STEP 4:
Then I use a big fluffy brush (Sigma E40) with a skin toned eyeshadow (‘naturale’) to make sure the eyeshadows are blended.
STEP 5:
After that I reapply the black eyeshadow (‘cougar’) to make it more intense.
Then I clean up any fall-out underneath my eyes.
STEP 6:
After doing my base makeup I apply a black eye pencil on my upper and lower waterline. Also I apply the eye pencil a little bit lower on my lower lashline to make it more smokey.

STEP 7:
To blend out the eye pencil I use the black eyeshadow (‘cougar’) with a smudge brush (Sigma E21).
STEP 8:
Then I apply a mixture of the pink and the purple shade (‘scandal’ + ‘pda’) below the black on my lower lashline with a dense blending brush (e.l.f. Blending Brush).
STEP 9:
After that fill in my brows, curl my lashes and apply mascara. Lastly I highlight my inner corner with a light shimmery eyeshadow (‘stargasm’) with a flat eyeshadow brush (Sigma E56).
Finished Look:

I hope you enjoyed this step-by-step makeup pictorial on how to get this black smokey eye makeup look!
