Once I saw the palette of the collab of Jaclyn Hill and Morphe I immediately fell in love with how it looks! But I thought: Do I really need another palette? So in the end I still bought it…
I really love that you have so many everyday neutral colors but also some fun colors in the palette.
I have this palette for 7 months or so now. So I thought I’d tell you my thoughts on it.

FORMULA:
MATTE EYESHADOWS:
I really like the formula of the matte eyeshadows in the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette. They have good pigmentation and are easy to blend. Some need a little more love and you need to build them up a little but overall they are good. They are not the creamiest eyeshadows I’ve ever tried but they’re not dry either. I enjoy them a lot. Also the eyeshadows have fall out but not too much that it bothers me.
The black eyeshadow is not that amazingly pigmented but I like it. You can easily build it up but you’ll get quite alot of fall out with it.
SHIMMERS/ SATINS/ FOILS/ GLITTER:
Other than matte eyeshadows the palette contains shimmers, satins, foils and glitter. The formular of those are not my favorite to be honest.
There are some shades that have really good color pay off and are really easy to use. But there are also some shades that don’t have good pigmentation at all.
I think especially with the colorful shades (shimmery purple and the shimmery dark blue) you need good pigmentation but it’s not there. You really have to pack these colors on to make them show up. It makes it easier to apply them wet or with a glitter primer underneath but still they don’t show up that well and they have A LOT of fall out.
But for example the shimmery turqoise or the bronze/gold are really creamy and really pigmented. And the fall out is normal.
So some shades are really nice but some are not.
The palette also contains a brown glitter eyeshadow. I think the glitter only shows up when you apply the shade with your finger. But you have to be careful when blending it because the glitter will go away very easily.
SHADE RANGE:
I really like the shade range in the palette because you have a lot of neutral eyeshadows and some pops of color. I just think that some of the brown shades are very similar. They have different undertones but I think once they’re on the eyelids you can’t really see a difference.
And I personally wish there was a white matte eyeshadow in the palette to set the eyelid with or for a matte highlight. The lightest matte eyeshadow is too dark for my complexion so it’s more a transition shade on me.
PROS:
- Mattes are overall nicely pigmented and easy to blend
- Shade range is great
- Affordable price
CONS:
- Shimmers, satins, foils are not consistent: Some have good pigmentation/easy to work with but some don’t have good pigmentation and a have more fall out
- Some of the brown eyeshadows are too similar (the different undertones are not really noticeable)
- Not a white matte eyeshadow
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Overall I really like this palette. Even though really only like the formula of the mattes? Yes, because I think you can make every shade work.
I mostly like the the palette because of the shade range. Even though I think some of the brown shades are too similar (the different undertone is not really noticable on the eyelids) and I wish there was a matte white in the palette (to have a shade for setting the eyelids or a matte highlight. The lightest matte shade is too dark on my complexion so it’s more a transition shade on me).
In my opinion most of the eyeshadows (for me around 80%) of the palette are nice and good to work with.
I have to say it annyos me a little that the palette is SOOO hyped when some of the shimmer shades are not really good. I like this palette but I think it is not that crazy amazing like so many people say.
Also: The palette is more expensive that other 35 eyeshadow palettes by morphe. They say that is because the formula is better…… Which I don’t agree on at all.
I only have two other 35 eyeshadow palettes which are the Morphe 35OM and the 35OS. And I think the formula really is the same.
I think the price is higher because it is a c0llab with Jaclyn Hill which I think is completly fine. I don’t mind that is a higher price because it’s a collab with her. But the reason that “it is better formula” I just don’t agree on.
Also with that being said: Even with a higher price of the palette I think it is worth the money. It still is affordable and the quality is good for the price.
So all in all I like the palette and if you like the shade range and don’t mind that some shades need a little more love I would recommend it.
