Sigma Beauty SigMagic Brushampoo
Cleaning your brushes and makeup sponges is very important. Oil, dirt, excess makeup, and bacteria will pile up in the bristles of your brushes and in your makeup sponges. That can quickly clogge your pores and make you break out. That is why Dermatologists recommend cleaning your brushes/ makeup tools minimum once a week.
Cleaning makeup brushes/ tools is probably my least favorite thing to do. But it can be more fun if you use the right cleanser.
To really deep clean my brushes I love to use the Sigma Beauty SigMagic Brushampoo Liquid.
And combined with the Sigma Beauty Spa Cleaning Mat it’s actually fun to do.

HOW TO USE THE SIGMA BRUSHAMPOO AND MAT:

Before using Sigma Beauty SigMagic Brushampoo
I will show you now two examples (a face makeup and an eyeshadow brush) on how I clean my brushes with the Sigma SigMagic Brushampoo Liquid and the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Mat. You don’t need the brush cleaning mat to clean your brushes, but I think it makes the whole process easier.
I used two white-haired brushes so you can see how clean they are in the end.

Place Sigma Cleaning Mat in the sink
So I start with placing the brush cleaning mat in the sink around the drain.
CLEANING A FACE MAKEUP BRUSH:

Dampen the brush before cleaning
First of all I dampen the brush with some water.

Squirt Sigma Beauty SigMagic Brushampoo on brush
Then I squirt some of the Sigma SigMagic Brushampoo liquid on the damp bristles of the brush.

Use the cleaning mat to work the soap into the bristles
After that I work the cleanser into the bristles by swirling it on the Sigma Spa Cleaning Mat.
The cleaning mat has 7 different areas. They have labels so you can see what Sigma recommends to use them for.
If you don’t have a cleaning mat you can also just use the palm of your hand. But that can dry out your hands after a while.
I also take some of the cleanser down the handle of the brush to clean it, too.

Rinse brush under water
Then I rinse the brush under water. To really get all the excess cleanser out of the brush I brush it back and forth on the mat.

Squeeze out excess water
After that I squeeze out the excess water out of the brush. To let it airdy I put the brush on a towel (see picture after ‘Cleaning an eyeshadow brush’).
CLEANING AN EYESHADOW BRUSH

Dampen the brush before cleaning
Again I first dampen the brush with some water.

This time I use the left side of the cleaning mat as Sigma recommends.
Again you can also just use the palm of your hand if you don’t have a cleaning mat.

Let brushes airdry
So now the brushes are perfectly clean again and just need to dry.
To let the brushes airdry I like to place them on a towel. I always roll up one side of the towel so the brushes can dry at an agle. I do that so the excess water will run down the bristles and won’t run down the handle of the brush. Because that can cause the glue inside the brush to come loose.
Other brush cleanser that I like:
1. Beauty Blender blendercleanser solid (click here to see my review).
2. Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner (I mostly use for a quick cleanse – click here to see my review).
I hope you liked the step by step tutorial on how I clean my brushes with the Sigma Beauty SigMagic Brushampoo Liquid and the Spa Cleaning Mat!
