Who likes cleaning your makeup brushes/ tools? Don’t really enjoy it, to be honest. But it can be fun to do if you use the right cleanser: The Beauty Blender blendercleanser solid is one of my favorite brush and makeup sponge cleansers.

A lot of people forget to clean their makeup tools but it is so important to do! After some time oil, dirt, excess makeup, and bacteria will pile up in the bristles of your brushes and your makeup sponges. That can clogge your pores and also make you break out. Dermatologists recommend cleaning your brushes minimum once a week.

PRODUCT INFORMATION:

HOW TO USE THE BEAUTY BLENDER SOLID BLENDERCLEANSER:

To show you how I clean my brushes with the Beauty Blender blendercleanser solid I chose two white-haired brushes so you can really see how clean the brushes are afterwards.

First I will show you how I cleaned a big face brush and afterwards how I cleaned a super dirty eyeshadow brush.

CLEANING A FACE MAKEUP BRUSH:

Dampen the brush before cleaning

Dampen the brush before cleaning

First of all I dampen my brush well.

Afterwards I swirl the damp brush in the tub that contains the Beauty Blender solid soap bar until it foams up a little.

Use the little cleaning mat to work the soap into the bristles

Then I take the little cleaning mat (that comes with the cleanser) and work the soap into the bristles of the brush.
I also take some of the soap down the handle of the brush to clean it, too.

Rinse brush under water

After that I rinse the brush under water. I also swirl the brush around on the cleaning mat to get all the excess cleanser out of the brush.

Squeeze out excess water

Last step is to squeeze the excess water out of the brush. Then I let the brush airdry on a towel (see picture after ‘Cleaning an eyeshadow brush’).

CLEANING AN EYESHADOW BRUSH:

I also clean the dirt off the solid soap bar.

Let the brushes airdry

Let the brushes airdry

Last but not least I let the Beauty Blender blendercleanser solid and the brushes airdry. I always like to have a slight angle when letting the brushes airdry so the excess water won’t run down inside the brush. Because that can cause the glue inside the brush to come loose. So I just roll up one side of a towel and place the handle of the brush on the higher side. So the bristles of the brushes will face downwards. It doesn’t have to be a high angle – just a little so the water runs out of the bristles of the brush.

CLEANING A BEAUTY SPONGE:

I peronally rarely use beauty sponges. But I clean them pretty much the same like I clean brushes:
1. I dampen the beauty sponge
2. I press and swirl the sponge in the tub that contains the Beauty Blender solid soap bar
3. I squeeze it a few times to work the cleanser into the sponge
4. I rinse it also by squeezing the sponge to get the cleanser out of the sponge
5. Squeeze the sponge to get excess water out of the sponge
And then I just let the makeup sponge airdry.

Other brush cleanser that I like:
1. Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner (I mostly use for a quick cleanse – click here to see my review).
2. Sigma Beauty SigMagic Brushampoo and Cleaning Mat (click here to see my review).

I hope you liked the step by step tutorial on how I clean my brushes with the Beauty Blender solid blendercleanser!
